Site specific Installation at Massachusetts College of Arts, for MFA work and later Solo show at Canvas Gallery Karachi, Pakistan

The Studio that Creates Itself, After Allen Ruppersberg's, The Novel that Writes Itself, 2019

The Studio that Creates Itself, …, started as an actual studio space that I inhabited during the 2018 summer semester at Massachusetts College of Art and Design for my MFA program. It became a site for interaction, discussion, collection and making of objects and relations. For me, art is not a solitary activity, rather it is informed by the interactions of an individual with their surroundings and the people that they engage with. Each person brings their influence and aura that helps shape the way an artist sees things around them. Roland Barthes reminds us that, authorships (of all kinds) are multiple and continually indebted to others. What matters are the ideas, experiences and possibilities that result from these interactions.

My practice accumulates all these experiences and interactions in many different ways from tangible to intangible forms. The physical elements are my sketches, polaroid pictures, drawings, found objects and prints. The aspects that elude a specific shape or even a well-defined outcome are the memories, interactivity, and relations made during the period of time spent in the studio.
